Laptop computer repair...
Just wanted to let you guys know that I fix laptops. I can replace the displays, keyboards, power adapters where you plug the cord into the side/back of the computer, and the list goes on.
I usually charge $50 per hour. If you take a laptop into a shop like squeek squad, they'll usually charge you $125 for setting it on the counter top then run the numbers up from there. They usually will NOT replace a display, they'd rather sell you a new computer. If they do, it would likely cost you $350. I can do that for parts plus $50 (and shipping). That would usually cost you $70 part, $50 labor, $30 shipping 2 ways, total $150. As for a broke power recepticle, $9 part, $100 labor, $30 shipping 2 ways, total $139. So, I guess it would be safe for me to say that I can fix just about anything wrong with your laptop for $150. Most laptop repair stores charge on average $300 to fix a broken laptop.
So, if anyone needs my help let me know. Just pm me.

It's amazing what repair shops won't touch. I took my wife'e lap top to the shop to have a new power plug installed; the center power pin was simply worn down to the point it would not make a good connection w/ the converter. Guy told me it was the motherboard. I didn't say a word, just took it home. Ordered the proper plug from eBay, installed it...works like a champ.
I don't have the patience to work on them for money; disassembling older cases with wear cracks and such w/o breaking something is too stressful...so, my hat's off to you sir.

Yea, mother board repair is their magic word for $399. Most stores won't touch them. Heck, when a new laptop is around $499 why bother. The thing about the $499 new machine is that it comes with a 90 warranty and min ram. After you get done with what you really need you're back up to $899.

My other laptop crashed and it wasnt backed up for weeks. I had some important files there. I use a Ximeta 500gb NDAS but I had been disconnected. I took my laptop to a repair store -- they said H Drive is completely shot, no life, and it would cost about $ 1000 to pull the data out. I had 2 other guys look at it -- no one could do anything. They did not even charge me the $ 100 since nothing they could do. I wish I had you closer, or at least when you picked up the R and we couldnt get together in NY.

I got no spyware. That laptop was actually a dual-boot: windows and Linux. This IBM too. This IBM actually overheats. I have to replace the thermostat one day, that is the heat-sink, which is another story.
