Today one of the ballast on my HID setup went out.
I need to order a new set of lights. The ones I have I was given and they had no idea which temp they were. I am not sure exactly which to order. I like the ones I have now and want to be close to that.

I am going away this weekend and some is night driving so I have to put a normal bulb on one side and the HID on the other.

I know nothing about HID's but hope to get a set soon. I'll check this post later to get suggestions.

 

i see mostly white light

with very little hint of blue when looking directly at them.

probably a 5000K-6000k bulb.

do you know the watts of the bulb?

I'd agree with 6000k. My HID's are 8000k and are very slightly blue.

Looks like 6000K or 5000K, however they may very well be 4300K. take a look at the bulb. More then likely they are aftermarket and they usually come with little tags with what color temp they are.

 

I was going to say 4300k or 5000k. 4300k is supposed to be OEM white, and to me, I don't really see any blue in those, they are extremely white. I think if they were 6000k there would be a hint of blue.

 

And plus, most camera's don't show an accurate showing of color due to white balances, etc. Take a look at the bulb. Most can also show by the insulation color on the return wire. Brown=4300, white=6000K, etc

 

Thanks guys I ordered a set of 55W 5000K and got them for about $60.00 with a lifetime warranty!
I ordered them last night hopefully will have them by the end of the week and have them installed.

Now to find a used ballast to do my foglight conversion.

 

Well the kit got here today and I installed it. The kit is a 55W 5000K.
But they look a little Blue to me. I will see what they look like tonight.

That doesn't look right... How much warm up did you give with those pictures? They should be a pure white, no blue. Get new bulbs, those aren't 5000K

 

It looks good, but yes those seem to have more blue in them.

how is the output compare to the old bulbs while in the driver seat?

 

The car had been running for about 15 minutes or more before the pics.
They are totally different than the other ones I had in the car before.

What really makes me upset about this entire transaction is I ordered these from a pretty well known company. The box the bulbs came in have no markings at all!!! The bulbs have no markings at all either!!!!

It actually seems like less light output than before. Also the side cutoff is totally different as well.

I think once I find a used ballast and get it all set up in the Fogs I am going to order 4 new bulbs from one place all the same temp. This way they will all match.

 

That is really not a the correct color then. Have them send you either 4300K or 5000K, pure white. Even though it's 55W, they should be the same color as 35W

 

They are supposed to be 5k ones here is to compair between the old and new.Sorry have been really busy.

Not sure what the old was. There is no marking at all on the old ones and I got them used.

 

Well called them today. Somehow the site messed my order up. I know for a fact I ordered the 5000K and they insist I ordered the 12000K and that is what I got.

The only thing they will do is if I remove the bulbs and send them back(On my dime) they will then send me a set of 5000K bulbs(again on my dime) The shipping for them each way will be a little over $8.00.
Or after looking on the site I can order a New set of bulbs for $15.00 and $8.00 shipping.

I do not want to get screwed again but I need to get the right bulbs.
I think it would just be easier to order a new set of bulbs.

I thought about installing my old set of bulbs but the plugs are different than the new ones.

Soon I will figure it out. But till then I have the Crappy 12,000K bulbs in there!

I think when I can I will just suck it up and buy a set of 5000K bulbs and be done with it.
