Default Need help on a special project

I know I'm not asking for help on a Volvo, but I think you guys might have an insight. The car is a 1989 Ford Thunderbird SC AWD. There's only 1 left in the world and its currently owned by the SuperCoupe Club of America, and being restored. We've hit a roadblock though in locating correct rotors for it. The calipers are from a BMW 740i, but the rotors are not. They have the 5x108 lug pattern, which is the same as Ford, but no luck in finding any Ford rotors that fit. Any help in identifying the rotors would be greatly appreciated. I'll attach the measurements.

Is this the car you are talking about? http://www.sccoa.com/forums/showthread.php?t=107349

They made about 13,000 of those cars and only 1 left? Wow!

I do not have the measurements but have you checked the 960 or 850/S70 front rotors?
The Volvo part number is 271788.

need more accurate dimensions. Use a caliper or mic in METRIC and go here

http://www.brembo.com/ENG/catalogo_AM/2007/index.html

This should help you search. I would search for 5 lug and try to go off the overall height. Take the higher of the two dimensions.

No they only made one AWD Supercoupe. I myself drive a 1989 SC. They're hard to come by, but they're still around. I'll get the guys to mic it. I've got the measurements in mm somewhere. I'll look at those volvo's you suggested though.

You've already got the dimensions to .001"; i would think that's plenty accurate for a brake rotor...

Converting from english units to metric is pretty straightforward;

1 mm = 0.03937"

or

0.001" = 0.0254 mm

conversion calculators are all over the web; here's one

http://www.convertunits.com/from/inches/to/mm

GDog,

I know how to convert inches to MM. My suggestion was to MEASURE in MM. Many times we round off or guesstimate the measurement.

Using a tool calibrated in MM would help you round off in MM, the database from BREMBO was extensive but required all dims in MM.

The other helpful thing would be to try and clean up the rust off the old rotor, this will get you a bit more accuracy. (rust "swells")
