Default Something I'd like to share

I don't know if many people go on any of the other forums or not, such as volvospeed or turbobricks. But I'm glad that the forum I frequent the most is this one. Don't get me wrong, volvospeed is great for performance information and they have a nice "for sale" section, but man, I feel nervous to post a question there for the fear of being torn apart for asking it. Rarely have I received a straight answer there without someone having to be a smarta$$. Same as turbobricks, asked them a simple question today and received a sarcastic response.

Just saying thanks to this site for everyone's courteous help, even for those really dumb questions.

You can usually tell the maturity level by the responses you get.....Remember a week ago someone on here posted that they had been googling a "TR-5" and someone gave a smart answer with the animated googling. The reason I posted my answer along with the kitten picture was because of that! The poor member had no idea about how to properly look uo that and someone made fun! I wanted to nip that in the bud because the newbie had no idea. I hope this site NEVER turns into that, I have been a member of one that starts with a B and ends with an S (lol) for well over a year and I have 10 posts as opposed to my 1,700and something on here. Eventually we all are members of most or all of those boards. I moderate another Volvo one and am member of 5 of them but only really post consistantly on one (here) because of the attitudes towards everyone else. I'm not talking smack about anyone else, I just CHOOSE to be on here because of how everyone wants to help....

This one will never turn into those as long as I have power here.
I usually nip it all in the bud as well.

What is real funny is that alot of people from the other boards come here for real help and only look for certain things on the other boards.

+100.

As a moderator, I do not tolerate sarcasm or rudeness. Such posts will be wiped away as soon as we spot them.

I also noticed that those with macho attitude are usually mundane in their skills & knowledge in just about every business/trade. The top dogs are usually humble. This seems universal.

+1000 to all of the above! This is the only forum you can feel comfortable on. There are no dumb or lame questions, everyone asked, is a learning experience for hundreds, along with those who are to scared to ask.

Something I never really could quite understand is why people make fun of a question.. I am sure that those whom are making fun have been in the position of a newbie and were too afraid to ask..... The whole reason for the forum is for everyone to share the common knowledge of our passion! In the long run we help each other and save money.....

On s40concepts you can pretty much ask any question you want. There's always that one guy though...

There's always suggestions pointing towards the "search" button and such as well.

Oh yeah, I agree. I tell people to search not to be mean, but I know for a fact that there is some things that a simple search will bring up a ton more information than anyone can give that individual in an afternoon.

Absolutely. Eventually everyone gets tired of answering the same questions...over...and...over.

Like with the FPR. Tech knows what I'm talking about. I used to be one of those guys!

If I see posts that have been answered 100 times already I just skip it now.

Sometimes I don't mind answering questions that have been asked before, but when there's a question and also a thread that's been going on about the same thing for a while like two threads down, then I'm like, "COME ON!".

Posted again???

I sometimes wonder why people don't search a little myself. I have started to do a little search and post the link as a response. Maybe that will encourage some.

The things I do appreciate is when people find the cure and go back and post it. That is very helpful.

I have been doing that lately too, finding the answer and then posting the link. Today I posted the link for OBDII codes twice from the Helpful Resources sticky threads.
