Put my new to me 1997 960 wagon on the lift for the first time to inspect it. For 239,000 miles, I'm really impressed with this car, especially being a New England car. No rust anywhere on the body or underneath., no leaks or oil stains. Car is in overall great shape for it's age. I did find a broken driver's side sway bar link, New pads needed all around and a small patchable hole in the pipe before the catalyst. Struts on the to do list after I fix what I found today and the timing belt replacement.

rspi Jan 1, 2013 09:11 AM

Happy New Year to you to man. I think I'll change my signature to read '11 Volvo 850 T-5R. lol

On the S70...:
- Changed the battery with one from the junk yard. It had a 6/12 sticker on it. :)
- Un-jammed the rear passenger side door and replaced the latch with one from the junk yard.
- Replaced the washer nozzels with the '99 fan style (also from the jy doner car).
- Glued the door clip brackets back in with liquid nail.
- Replaced the driver side from corner light with a used one (from that jy doner car). I broke it cleaning ice off the front of the car the other day.

Cleaned out the wagon and de-odorized it with my Ozone machine.

Handysmurf Jan 6, 2013 11:30 PM

I changed the odometer gear in my car today. It went smoothly and worked out successfully, but what a pain in the neck for such a teeny, tiny little part.
I also had to reset the driver's side temperature control cable down at the box end so the knob turned smoothly throughout the whole range of temperature selection. MUCH less of a P.I.T.A.

alinazhou Jan 7, 2013 01:53 AM

changed oil and my car then put wheel cylinders on my car:D

Kuda Jan 7, 2013 02:08 AM

Going to drive the 850R hard today till something break cause this car is so neglected i need to get the worst out first.

Going to go shopping for possible a brand new 19T and everything else that i can replace with that the same time.

If enough time i will go get quote for the wash and ion ( bodywork repairs) today as well.

chrispy960 Jan 7, 2013 09:07 AM

Changed out the timing belt, water pump and all of the tensioners and pulleys that go round and round. Also replaced the rear pads and air filter.
Next up - front pads, spark plugs, oil change and sway bar link ends.
