What Snow Tires do you use?
Just curious to see what snow tires you guys use. I just had 4 new Yokohama Ice Guards installed on my S60 AWD. Only drove a few miles with them so far with a little snow/ice they feel good so far, can't wait for the next snow fall.
Bridgestone Blizzak seems to have great reputation, followed by Nokia. Some Japanese tyre mfgs have been using interesting materials on the tread surface, such as walnut shells.
I never used snow tyres and actually enjoy driving with all-season tyres, as long as I am away from other cars & objects, as I can let the tail of the car slide to make sharp turns, pull on the parking brake to make sharp turns/U-turns, etc...(at low speed of course). This is more fun with RWD.

I've never used snow tires either. It doesn't snow enough in Colorado, contrary to what most people think, to justify the cost of an extra set of tires. And I wouldn't want to put them on for one snow, and end up driving on dry pavement for the rest of the season. They wear quickly, can be dangerous on dry pavement at speed, and it would be a waste of a tire. And I don't really have the time to be swapping tires all the time.
Our Volvo did great in the blizzard last year with all-seasons. We were one of the only cars on the road having no issue at all.

I've lived in Va., Co., Pa. and now in OH and I get by with just all season radials also. The snow in Co. was the easiest of any to get around in. Snow in the morning and gone in the afternoon for the most part. Never seemed to have that wet slushy stuff that refreezes like here on the eastern side of the country, but you do have to watch out for the black ice. When I had the 760 in Co. I had studded snow tires on all four wheels. It went like a tank.
I put Dunlop Wintersport 3D's on my V70 a month ago. They have been very good on the snow and ice. On a scale of 1 to 10 I woul say if a Blizzak is a 10 the Dunlop is a 9. The Dunlops are on a par with the Nokian Happe Q's on my S70. The added benefit of the Dunlop is the excellent dry performance and quietness.
A set of 4 with steel wheels was under $600 from the Tirerack.

I bought the Nokian Hakkapeliitta RSi, snow tires without spikes. They handle very well on snow and even on ice. On tarmac they arent that good, and even worse on wet tarmac. Low on noise.
One thing is for sure, all season tires sux in winter roads.
I must say tho, its a bit funny reading about you guys never driving on snow. My V70 is excellent on icy conditions and that was a bit part in choosing it. Ever since I parted with my 94 850 Ive missed it and now Im once again complete!
