proper way to connect battery cable to starter solenoid
The engine in question is a 2012 VP V8-300-CA.
The parts diagram is below. Note the spacer is steel, not copper and steel does not conduct electricity well. It one looks at the shape of the insulating battery cable cover the battery cable would be connected to the spacer by the bolt. So all the starting current is going through the steel spacer. That makes no sense to me.
In reality there are 3 other smaller wires with ring connectors that also connect to the same stud as the battery cable.
Not understanding why there is a spacer or bolt for the spacer. Should just be a nut for the stud on the starter solenoid. But the shape of the battery cable cover would seem to indicate the battery cable is connected to the end of the spacer via the bolt.
