Sadly, mine was totaled out yesterday after being rear-ended by a semi and pushed into a Toyota in front of me. This car has been in my family since 1998 and to say I’m heartbroken would be an understatement. Please help me find another....

White or black wagons are acceptable, but white is my preference. Either interior color is OK. I’m in Indiana but have no problem shipping the ‘right’ car or flying cross country to drive it home. While I’d prefer an original car with everything intact, I have a pretty decent cache of Volvo parts and a busted bumper cover or missing Volans wouldn’t break the deal.

I have an 1996 850 silver wagon, grey leather interior. I really love it but we have decided not to try and restore it. We are going to buy a newer model. It has some problems (brakes, won't pass emissions, coupler to radiator leaking) but looks very nice.Serpentine belt is still fairly young, if you want I will tell you how old it is, I replaced it before I needed to. Car is in garage.

I tried to sell it for $400 because it needs work. No takers. I tried to give it away but some very poor people wanted it, people that would drive it no matter what and I did not feel comfortable with that.

I would like to give it to someone that would love it, work on it, restore it or use to restore another. I live in Meriden, Connecticut. You need a flat bed to come and get it. I can send you all the pictures you want. Has 240,000 miles on it. I really want to give it a good home. Nancy and George

is this a turbo or NA engine? Any idea why it won't pass emissions (ie check engine light fault codes?)

 

It's not turbo. I took it to a lot of people to try and fix it and the best answer I got was it is running lean. I was massively under employed for several years and alone so I could not do much. I have all the repair bills. I bought it in 2012 not understanding that unscrupulous people could disconnect battery and get the light to go off and by the time it came back on, I had already bought it. First thing I did was change serpentine belt and tried to get other repairs done. I also found you on facebook and messaged you there, if it's okay we could talk there or text two oh three 213 three seven 12. It is fast approaching the age where no emissions test will be required. Also mileage is 201,158. In the full shot pic that is not rust on rim of left back tire. I have a red garage and accidently rubbed the side (gently!) putting it in garage one day. I have more pics and interior if you want.

 

Is it worth fixing if I can find a decent technician?

Honestly, it looks to be in really good shape. I sold a similar one but it had no issues whatsoever. I just didn't have room for it at the time. I regret it because it was a really good car. You have find the right person to work on it. Someone who is honest and will get running like its suppose to.

 

Dear Moe: Why did you send me a pic of a car in SF? am trying to get rid of this car and I live in the Northeast.

 

If I could find someone, I would consider repairing it. I have used three different local volvo places around here and no one could get check engine light off. They kept whining "it runs lean". I have now spent more money on it than it cost. Fed up and disapointed.
