I have a transmission that will fit in a 1994 & 1995 Volvo 850. It may fit in other cars as well. It's a Aisin Warner transmission that was installed in other vehicles like Toyota's, etc. The model number on it is 50-42LE. Then it has numbers across from that. Here are the number breakdown...
50-42LE 1208 (776)

I believe this transmission came out of a 1994 Turbo 850. I'm not sure if it's the same as the ones that come in the NA modles. You can look at the numbers on your transmission if you look down at it from the space between your throttle cable and brake fluid reservoir. You will probably have to wipe it off with a rag to see it. Maybe even spray it down with some degreaser. The transmission that matched my T-5R had the numbers (560) just under the 1208 number. That was the difference between the two transmissions that I had.
The main difference between this transmission and the ones that went in 850's built after 1995 is a speed sensor or something that came out of the housing just to the right of the id / sn tag. This one has a plug there. That may effect your cruise control or cause a CEL to show all the time even if it works in your car.
I had a bad transmission in my 850 and purchased 2. Wasn't sure which one (exactly) I needed. I have the 850 T-5R and wanted to be sure I had one that fit and worked. Well, I took the best looking one and cleaned it up real good, then painted it real good with some high temp motor paint. When I get the transmissions to the shop that was installing it for me, the one that I did NOT paint had the exact numbers of the transmission that was pulled out of the car. So, he went with that one.
The one he went with had a dented oil pan and a cracked connector housing. So those 2 things were pulled off of the painted transmission (that is for sale here) and installed in the transmission that was installed.
NOTICE: This transmission, like the one that was installed in the car (which works perfectly) were both purchased from the same place. The one for sale has been painted black (very nice - I did this because I am painting everything in my motor bay black). Also, I have never had this transmission installed in my car. I do know that the gear thing that sticks out of the front has 2 layers, I can turn the inner gear thing clockwise and counter clockwise with my hand. I can NOT turn the outter sleave by hand and have not tried to turn it with any wrench or anything. I do not want to mess anything up. So, if you purchase this transmission you will need to take the oil pan off of your transmission and the plug housing.
