150,000 Mile Tune-Up
'Sup everyone, new here. I drive a 1994 Volvo 850 Turbo with 147,000 miles on it. Does anyone know what the 150,000 mile tune-up consists of entirely? I know they do an oil change and spark plugs, but I could do both myself. What else is there that they do during the tune-up? Also, were can I get the insulation or padding material that goes underneath the hood. Mine looks like it got burned or eaten. And any suggestions for spark plugs, which are good or bad? Any info would be useful. Live in Sac, CA if it makes any difference. Peace.
Greetings from Yokohama, Japan.

ROUTINE TUNE-UP ITEMS:
1. Spark Plugs (Genuine Volvo or Bosch Platinum is a good choice, I use Bosch Platinum).
2. Plug Wires (French Bougicord is the OEM, Bosch makes them as well but I went with the OEM).
3. Distributor Cap & Rotor (Bosch is the OEM).
4. Air Filter (MANN is the OEM).
5. Fuel Filter (Bosch is the OEM).
6. Pour a large bottle of Techron fuel system cleaner or equivalent.
7. Serpentine Accessory Drive Belt (Continental Tech is the OEM). Longer belt is recommended.
8. Tyre Rotation (watch out for the rotation direction arrow on the sidewall).
9. Exterior/Interior Light Bulbs.
10. Checking for Transmission Fluid Level.
11. Checking for Power Steering Fluid Level.
12. Checking for Brake Fluid Level.
13. Checking for Coolant Level (must not be at MAX mark when cold, it has to be about the middle between MAX & MIN). Should you decide to replace coolant, use high-quality coolant and avoid cheap/generic brands. I use Prestone, as Volvo genuine coolant was $20/gallon.
14. Checking for the Condition of Battery (Do multimeter test & S.G test).
15. Clean/service PCV system.
As for plugs, you could go withone of the following:
1. Genuine Volvo
2.Bosch Platinum +2 or +4 electrode, or Bosch Iridium (Iridium seems to require more frequent replacement than platinums)
3. Champion, specified in Haynes manual.
Don't forget to check the condition of the timing belt. If it has more than 70,000 miles/5 years, replace it.
Good luck,
JPN
