I would like to find a good home for this car. My parents bought this car new in Texas and it's time to find it a new home. Car was working great until it was parked in 2009.

I think it has 145k miles on it. It's never been in an accident. It's spent all its life in California. I think either the engine or the transmission was rebuilt at one time. I can find out if you want to know.

Car has a dead battery right now, but it will try to put it to run. If you want to see pics, let me know. Some time ago my cousin painted the car. It's going to need a new paint job as the clear coat is starting to peel. As for a price, let's talk and we can work something out. I would hate to let it go to a scrap yard.

Please send me a pic. Does the car have a turbo? Or the V6?

I had one before but the motor went bad at about 110,000. The V6 motors are not very good.

Its not been modified in any way. I don't think the car originally had turbo, but since I hardly drove it I am not sure.

I remember when the car was worked on, our mechanic said something about the v6 being a problematic. Don't remember why. But other than that major failure, the car was very reliable.

 

Seems to have a lot of rust for a Ca-Texas car... Cracked dash... Not worth much over scrap value. If the interior is nice, that could be worth to someone...

 

Where is the car now? I was thinking Texas but you said it spent all of it's time in CA...

 

Car is in san jose, ca. We were on a family trip in 1980 and our 240 series blew a head gasket out in new mexico. So we limped the car into El paso, traded the 240 in for the 262, and finished the trip.

Other than a few years it was up in SF and berkeley when my brother and sister in law drove it, it almost never left the bay area.
Yeah, it does have some rusting areas. The car has spent 90% of its time outside.

Getting back to trying to find a home for the 262. Going to drop a battery in it on sunday to see if I can get it to start. Need to find a new home for it soon. Will report back if I get it to run or not.

 

ok, I dropped a battery in there and the car cranks, but its not getting gas.

I loosened the fuel line to the injectors(?). I could smell gas, but it did not pump out any when I cranked the engine. Thats about the extent of my car diagnostic/repair skills.

So either the car is out of gas(needle did not move when power was restored), the pump is bad, the filter is bad, or ???.

If there is any interest, let me know asap. I am going to call the local volvo repair place to see if he wants it. I know a few people were after parts. I will email directly, but if its not somewhat easy to pull, I probably don't have the time or the skills to do it.

 

Someone local is coming by to see it on monday. He says that the same motor is used in a delorean. So he wants the engine. His friend has a wrecking yard, so they will stip it for parts.

So if parts are wanted off it, I can put you in touch with the yard if this deal goes through.
