Glad to join the forum. I've always been in love with the design of the more "stout-looking" Volvos, S40's/S60's. Though I have had a few issues with it, I really enjoy driving my R.

I've been searching through this forum, as well as swedespeed.com, but maybe someone here can offer some help?

While driving, my "Brake Failure..." light came on, along with another short message after it, though I didn't get a chance to see. And soon after, the "Check Engine" light came on too. I pulled over, shut my car off, and restarted, which resolved the Brake Failure light (for now, anyway), but the Check Engine remained on. Also, I noticed the feel of the car wasn't the same-- when I would push the gas, it wouldn't go as quickly, or power up like before. Also, when I shifted, it felt knotty and the car kinda shuddered. Any idea what could be up?

 

Welcome. If you don't have an OBD II reader go to Autozone and they can pull the codes for you. That will at least give you an idea where to start.
