Default Clunking sound when its cold.

Hello,

I have a 2007 c70 t5 and i hear a harsh clunking noise. Ive changed the cv axle and bearings hub. Now im lost. I was told

this part might be the culprit ( see photos) but i have no clue what it is and would it make that type of noise since it seems loose. Please help. Its very harsh in the cold morning and kind of stops when the day heats up. Your opinions are definitely valued. Thanks!

I think you were on the right track feeling for loose suspension and mount bushings. When the parts are cold the rubber in the bushings shrinks making the part loose and able to clunk. When they warm up the sound diminishes since the bushing expands (old trick for installing bushings inside a control arm is to put them in the freezer before installing) When does the thumping happen - going over bumps, while accellerating, when turning left or right?

It goes away temporarily when im at around 40 mph. Then comes back when I stop then accelerate again.

so when you turn right, you are loading up the left side of the suspension - that will make the left wheel bearings take a bigger load and unweight the right side which can leave suspension bits loose. Given you hear it going over bumps I'd be thinking it could be your right strut mount or the sway bar bushings or the sway bar end links. Its possible to be a control arm bushing but my experience is those make the car feel like its not quite properly aligned or the feel changes while driving.

The funny thing this morning. I dont hear it when i hit dips and bumbs. Only when i pull off and drive below 40 mph. Ill check the sway links and strut this morning. Thanks for everything.

This is the only thing ive found worn. But everyone tells me if my tirea arent worn it shouldn't be the problem. Your opinion is definitely appreciated.

any time the rubber boots on ball joints and axles etc get torn the grease can exit and dirt can enter. Its just a matter of time before the part fails. Best to get that part replaced and see if that does the trick.
