Default Fog light help

I just purchased a 2005 V70. There is a button on the dash to apparently turn on rear fog light but it does not have front fog lights. I wanted to throw some after-market fogs on the front of the car and wire them to the button for the rear. Is this possible to do?
Thanks

I would not do this because the fog lamps are controlled by your CEM and REM and I believe would cause issues. I would recommend the factory kit #30744346 and wire harness #8622840. Would still need a software download also.

i need a software update just to add some lights? That's crazy. I'm guessing the dealer needs to do this.

If you want to do it the right way, yes. And yes, the dealer does the software.

You can try your method but the CEM/REM might detect a higher than usual draw and shut the circuit down. You would have better luck adding a circuit direct from battery voltage and using a generic switch installed somewhere.

okay so at least I can do it my own way with a wiring harness and switch running off battery. Thanks for the reply
