Exclamation misdiagnosed?

weeks ago, at a red light, my 2005 volvo v50 started to sputter. with the pedal to the floor, i was able to get across the intersection, and to the side of the road. once at the side of the road, the car did not start again. i had no dash warning of any issue, car was running fine up to that point. my initial thought was the fuel pump or some electrical issue. approximately 2 weeks after it was towed to the auto shop, they called to state that it was the fuel pump. days, then over a week passed without getting any answers from them, then calling them, only to be told a new fuel pump had been installed and the car did not start, now stating it may be the modulator. i asked if it was possibly the modulator all along, which, of course, they stated no. in a few days, the car will have been at the shop for one month. i believe they misdiagnosed this from the start, and racked up many hours of labor, and the cost of the fuel pump, when it appears to have been the modulator. could both the fuel pump, and modulator, both fail simultaneously?

Generally - no

You might want to pick a service provider that either gives more timely service and knows what they are doing. And what's a modulator? Do you/they mean the PEM or fuel pump controller?
