Suspension
I have a question about my 99 S80... I have had suspention problems since I've had the car.....Last weeek I had the strut replaced and even after that was replaced there is a clunking noise still on that side of the car when you hit a bump...different then the noise before...... Do you think there is something else wrong or could the mechanic have overlooked something???What could this be????

RE: Suspension
Thank you so much for your information.... I just had the ball joint replaced and it is still making the same noise so I guess the only thing left is the sway bar..... Can you tell me what this part does and if it was bad could it make a noise that sounded like something was loose.....Also is this a hard thing to change? Another thing my Check engine light comes on and off all the time and stays on for the most part after about 6 times to the Volvo dealer I have not been back because everytime they say it is the fuel filler cap....My question....can something be done to fix this and if not is their a way to reset the check engine light or disconnect it ... thank you

RE: Suspension
The sway bar links are links with like balljoints in the ends of them.If they wear out they will make like a popping noise over a bump. They are easy to replace.
For the check engine light the dealer needs to get on the ball and look at the car properly and fix it. I would talk to the service manager and tell him you had the car there many times for the same problem and they keep telling you the gas cap was loose.
You know it isn't the gas cap loose or bad. Most of the time the service manager will follow the car through and make sure it gets fixed. That is unless the service manager is a lazy one that is useless.

You can go to any Autozone and they'll let you use their OBD2 scanner in the parking lot so you can find out what error codes the ECU is throwing. It sounds like you're having the same issue I did, it was getting a rich condition. I changed the air filter and cleared the CEL and haven't had a CEL since.
