Default Tires rub

Hey all I have a 2004 S60 R with the factor R 18" wheels ( if you didn't guess from the screen name) my front tires rub when turned all the way either direction. They seem to only rub going forward not backwards, I had the control arms rebuilt and a 4 wheel alignment but still have the problem. Anyone else have this issue? How did you fix it?

Do you know which part is rubbing which?
Tire against wheel well?
Tire against fender?

Oh yeah...what size are the tires? 235? 245?

The tires rub on the inner wheelwell and they are 235/40/18 I think that was the size they offered from the factory?

Can u go 215 instead of the 235. That's a really wide tire.

That is the same width tire We are running on our V70 R, but we have the 17" rims. Not sure on what to do.....you could try some 5mm spacers.
Or you could go to a 225 tire? Maby some other owners have Ideas.

Actually...I think my dads 17" rub at full lock too.

I have a T5 with 235/45-17's, and I rub slightly at the front at full lock. You could put larger stops in but you would gain some turning radius. It could be that the stops get worn with age and then you begin to rub?

It's a common issue with S60's with 17" tires or larger, so R's are normally affected too. IIRC 5mm spacers stop the rubbing. I never really had a problem with it though, and don't have spacers.

FYI 235 is the stock tire width on R's, either 45/17 or 40/18.

I had 235-45-18 before and it rubbed on full lock. I have since switched to 225 and it doesnt rub at all. So that might be a solution for you.
