Thanks tech.

Got a 205/50 16 to test also.

here is the 205/50 up front and the 225/50 in the back.

with the 1" spacer in the rear, the fender is on the tire with the 225. the 205 is fine. but both will require fender work in the rear to work.
The front is gonna be 205/50 for sure. the backs will also be 205/50 for rotational purposes and it will look better balanced front to rear.

Tires will get ordered this week. Going to be trying the Continental ExtremeContact DW 205/50 16. Should be a nice light(19lbs) street/ middle track tire.

After some carefull thinking... The 8" springs are back in the rear. I found that Eibach sells a 3.6" ID helper springs which will fit perfectly on the lower rear perch. I only have to make a custom adapter to mate the 3.6" ID helper spring to the 5" OD spring. Luckly, the 5" OD springs have and ID of 3.96" so, this wont be too hard to make... If The adapter is not possible, then I am stuck with the 11" springs.

Here is the current set up. all These pics have the 1" spacer on the rear.:

Finally rolled the rear fenders, had to modify the tool, by drilling another hole for the pivot arm to get full push on the fenders:

no rubbing with these rims pushed this far out. i can easily stuff a 255 in the rear now with the right rim and offset.

The 1inch spacers in the rear are still not large enought to match the front track, but the rear track is close, and looks sooo much better now.

Front track is 56.3" and the rear track is 53.5" on a stock 240.
Now I have 56.3" front and 55.5" rear.

Looks good!

TIPSP 10-26-2010 10:08 PM

THanks man!

Typhoon 10-27-2010 05:30 AM

I think the 244 looks great just as it is now, don't touch it! Perhaps a light window tint in the future, but a great looking car is one where the owner realises they've done just enough.
Spray some rust preventative up behind those rolled guard lips, they'll trap dirt and water now, so give them all the help they can get

Regards, Andrew.

TIPSP 10-27-2010 08:01 AM

Thanks Andrew. Agreed, a slight tint and that will be the it for the outside.

Hopefully these tires have good tread life.

Anyways...

Measured the upper spring seat in the rear, and now a new one can be made to accept the 3.63 ID helper springs. Also, gonna have to slot the lower arm and upper plate holes ~.19" to stop the rubbing from the springs pushing to the rear from the up and down motion.

Everyone seems to love the Conti DW's (and their all-season siblings, the DWS's). They also have a 60-day unconditional guaranty, so if you don't like them, or if the sizing isn't right, you can swap them for something else.

I never heard of rolling fenders? What does it do and how do you do it?

TIPSP 11-11-2010 08:56 PM

Thre is a 2" lip of metal on the wheel well. This lip interfers with the tires when you lower the car are push out the rims and or get fatter tires. By Rolling the fender, you push that 2" metal lip up into the wheel well which allows the tires to move up and down without hitting the lip. You can see the before and after images above.
