I'm new here so hopefully this is the right part of the forum.
I have a 1985 240GL with the US-style quad headlight setup (4x6 high beams and low beams). I can't stand how dim and useless the sealed beams are on these and my 1991 I had way back was the same way. Is there a way to swap/fit the big round headlights from the older models? It would obviously have to not be sealed as I want to put in my own choice of bulbs but is it possible? If not I'm willing to have quad round lights. As long as I can swap bulbs like a regular car. Thanks for the input!!
The photo here has my white 85 on the left and another guy's 240 next to it with my ideal light setup.
If you are interested I have a pair of 4x6 Hella replacements (new in box ) for the high beams that take an H4 bulb and replace the original sealed beams. I bet you can find the same for the low beams on eBay. Just plan on adding a relay if the car doesn't already have a headlight relay. PM me and I can send you some pics
Hella also makes a 4x6 replacement lense - different parts for low and high beams. I have two high beams for sale new in the box (Hella 72116Bs) IPD sells them for $68 each, I'll take $35 for the pair. Never got around to installing and that car is long gone...
Those Truck-Lite LEDs will get you an HID-like even bright white light with a crisp horizontal shutoff on the low beams. but, they are expensive, like $150 each, so $600 for the 4 lamps.
