Default Right headlight doesn't work on low beams, but works on high beams

Hello,

This is for a 1983 245. I noticed today that my right passenger headlight doesn't turn on when low beams are on. The driver headlight, however, is on. Once high beams are turned on, the right passenger headlight turns on again. Could this be a relay or fuse problem? I don't understand what is causing this one headlight to be off with low beams and on with high beams.

The solution is simple you need a new headlamp. Headlamps/headlight bulbs have two filaments one for low beam and one that is more intense for high beam. Your low beam filament appears too have burned up. Being that your car is an 83 you need to replace your entire sealed beam headlamp. On the newer 240's 1986-1993 the headlamp and the bulbs are separate like in all new cars.

I feel so silly! I didn't realize that there were two filaments. This makes plenty of sense. Thank you!
