The I4, the heads had a jb weld blob smeared just after the last exhaust manifold line. Surprisingly, before I scraped the blod off, it ran strong on the fwy, hitting 80mph easy. Started right up and the suspension very nice. All though when idle the whole engine rocked left/right pretty bad like bad motor mounts or something

Oh ok then you only have one head. It is pretty easy to remove the head.
I do not have a link right off hand for pics but it is an easy job.

Remove the intake side, remove the exhaust side, remove timing cover, loosen the tensioner and pull the timing belt. Remove the valve cover. Remove the bolts that hold the head down. Disconnect any of the sensor wires possibly attached. And lift it off.

It'll be more troublesome than it sounds, the old bolts will be stuck, and if the headgasket is old enough it might come apart when you remove the head. Also, drain the cooling system into a bucket first.

I hear a lot about the bolts...as for the gasket I will put in a new one, they are pretty cheap. The coolant is already drained because my cyl heads have a giant hole on the exhaust manifold side. It all spilled out when I scraped the jb weld crap off of it thinking it was a melted sticker...

Is 250 bucks too much for a cyl head with three months of warranty?

Yes. you can buy a 531 head over on turbobricks for that price. A 531 head is an imported head that flows a bunch more air than the ones we get. I would suggest going on turbobricks and seeing what people are selling.

Today's surgery will be a laborious work of rejuvenation. I shall start by examining bolt sizes and various vital connections. A delicate task of removing and remembering how to reconnect.

AAAAhhh dam!!! An amature, ****-eyed doc with an alcohol level of 10.0 will be performing the operation..."Oh yeah?, well......I'll have you know that this ****-eyed sight is a highly calibrated, fine tuned piece of equipment known as................................................ ..............................."ah,,,what the heck...I see two of everything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! TO BE CONTINUED...

Default new cyl heads

Hello people!!! haw ya doin?

I have changed the cyl heads...it was a grueling procedure. I replaced the heads using an earlier model...1985 2.3L

Everything matches but now it won't start...well, I got it from the junk yard...maybe the heads are bad? The donor 240 had been in an accident and that is why I believe it was there.

Timing is done
I forgot to mark the corresponding plug wire to plug so I need help putting back the spark plug wires in order...

It cranks over but nothing...

CHECK OUT THE PICKS OF THE NEW HEAD...

Did you say that car was under water for a couple years? Save those beer cans because you should be able to patch the floor boards with them. Just heat them up with a torch and mash em in there.

Do you have state inspections where you live?

Default beer cans?

Hey bubba

No, not under water, the owner lived by the sea shore. He probably never washed the car thus helping to wash off the salty mist or fog that every morning moves its way inland. Beer cans? I can see the melting of the aluminum part...just cut the ends, unroll the can and use it as a sheet of metal right? YET ANOTHER WONDERFUL USE OF BEER CANS...AA meetings? BAAAAhhhh...

thanks

Bring an extra couple for who ever will be doing the inspection, and pay in cash (wink-wink)
