Default 1986 240 radio

Would you believe I've still got the original factory radio? It works but time for an upgrade. I don't need the boom, boom, boom, extra speakers, and super-duper amp. Just a plain old decent AM/FM radio. Well, a CD player would be nice I guess. Any suggestions would be appreciated, like how to get the old radio out. Thanks.

Default RE: 1986 240 radio

I recently swapped a radio from an 82 to a 87. The 82 had the radio below the ashtray. Remove the front panel by pulling off the ***** and removing a nut from each **** post (14mm socket). There is a screw on each side of the radio that mounts it to the pocket it's in, they screw i n from the outside. Get to them by removing the large (about 1 ft square) piece of plastic that are the sides of the doghouse (two screws each). Unplug the power/speaker plug and the antenae plug and the radio will slide out. Hope this helps.
