1987 240 DL Coil Seat Rusted Out?!
Coil Seat Rusted Out on the drivers side front strut which caused the coil spring to grind about an inch wide by half inch deep groove into a fairly new tire. My question for you guys is, am I able to just get a replacement seat for the spring? Does a new strut come with the seat on it already? I was hoping I could get a new strut and it would already be included, because theyre only 50$ or so and I cant find a coil seat listed anywhere by itself but the pictures on the parts websites just show the bare strut. Any information you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Dan

I don't know where you're going to get a new strut for $50. Tasca Volvo has them for $235 (non-ABS). You may be thinking of the shock absorber (strut insert). Sure thing, $50, but they don't have the coil seat. The coil seat is on the strut. The strut is normally a junk yard item. Then you put on a new coil and new shock and be ready to go.
But if one's gone the other is close behind. Best to do both sides.
I hope you can find a decent strut in a junk yard. $235 (non-ABS) is an awful lot of money. Times two. I haven't seen a source for new struts other than Volvo.

just to let you know tasca is having their annual end of year sale and are offering 5% discounts on all orders with the coupon code "volvoforum"
only reason i know is i just ordered some parts from them and the salesman Domenic told me about this after i told him i just picked up my new Volvo and needed struts for it\
