Smile 1987 240 DL stereo deck removal

I'm doing a stereo swap job for my brother, who has above mentioned car. It has a separate EQ/booster from the factory at the bottom, so I'm wondering if I need a special wiring harness to *maybe* use it in line w/ an aftermarket Kenwood CD deck. Just thought I'd get some smarts on it before I start puling things out of his dash, lol. Maybe someone has a link to a diagram? Thank you in advance for any advice on it!

Trust me...any modern average head unit will have more power than the sad little 5 watt amps Volvo used 25 years ago. I've replaced systems in 140's, 240's and 740/760's. I never contemplated reusing any of the aged stock components...and never regretted it.

I so agree! I just yanked out the old pathetic Volvo system from my 88DL and put in a new Alpine. OMG!! The sound is AWSOME. My little Volvo has never sounded so good and I have all this amazing capability too. My Bluetooth cellphone works with it, my Ipod, it goes on and on. I think that anyone that tries to work with the old Volvo stuff is really going to end up spending dollars to save pennies.

When I figure out how to post photos, I'll take some snaps of my system. It's a work in progress as I want to add subs soon. I am also going to dampen down the road noise with ceramic insulation. I think this will also help my A/C. I'll keep you aprised.

I will be happy to post photos as soon as I get home. But right now, I'm in Argentina on a Study Abroad program and won't be back in the states until mid June.
