I just recently have been having problems with a loud whining noise coming from the fan behind the grill. I'm not sure if it is the auxiliary fan or something else but it is definitely not the main radiator fan. the sound continues as long as I am driving in turns off when the car shuts off. Any ideas as to what it might be?

 

your wife/gf will be more comfortable riding on the passenger seat, rather than the bumper.

offhand, I'd guess its the aux cooling fan motor thats ready to die. they should be quite quiet, just a wooosh. also, I don't think those fans are always-on, I have a 1992 which has the updated 2-speed electric fan, it only comes on when things warm up, or the AC is running, and only comes on high when things are hot.

 

Lol she already doesn't like my old Volvo hah. And thanks for the info the fan doesn't spin at all even when the motors been going for a while. Thanks again.
