Default 1990 240 dL won’t start hot

I have a 1990 240 dl auto. When it’s hot it won’t start. But if it’s been sitting for a while it fires right up. Replaced the fuel regulator and it wasn’t that. Any insight would be appreciated.

When it is failing, do you hear the fuel pump run momentarily when you turn the key from off to the II position? If you don't hear it then your problem is most likely your fuel pump relay. If you hear it run momentarily and then shut off when you turn the key to the II position and it still doesn't start, then you may want to check your crank position sensor.

Check for residual fuel pressure with a gauge - you may have a bad check valve in the fuel pump - easily replaceable
