1990 Volvo 740 GL Loss Of Power?!

Hi everyone, My brother just changed my water pump & timing belt on my Volvo 740 last week. The belt never broke but he did put on a new harmonic balancer & it was timed right & it runs real smooth but i can tell it lost a lot of power. I'm not throwing off any engine codes. Could it be my cat plugged? I did run seafoam in it. Any ideas? It seems to idle smooth but just seems like something is pluged & there is way less power. Not that it had power in the first place! lol:confused:

Also, it doesn't over heat & it runs cool. It doesn't get hot & the motor seems to run great! No engine lights lit up on the car. I'm stumped!

Anyone?

if there wasn't a problem prior to the recent work, the obvious first place to look would be all the work performed. maybe a connect or hose or something came loose.

I would think that you put the timing belt on one tooth off. When you line up the timing marks on the belt, the crank pulley mark is not really on the mark. Look at the picture at the bottom pulley. You have to eyeball the alignment and you can turn it back a bit to check. I think that there's a double line for the crank. That's all I can really think of, other than what guest01 said.

My brother printed out this picture also so i know he timed it right. Very weird!

Check the timing and see what you have. If it is off then you need to reset the belt. Does the engine sound smooth as you accelerate? After driving it is the cat glowing.

he......... so you haven't seen for yourself that the timing is actually on?

My brother is really good a auto repair so i'm not worried about the timing. I might check out if the cat is plugged. If i let it sit an idle for a long time will the cat still glow?
