Question 1992 740 Turbo wagon heater core

I need to replace the heater core on my 92 740t wagon.
My estimator guide says 6+ hours.
Is this accurate?
My car does not have automatic climate control.
Any "do" or "don't" here?
Never done one before and I am hoping it is s straight forward job.

In my case it was straight forward all right.....straight to the shop. As bubbba said, The whole car is built around that core.

In my case the Volvo guy was hurting for work so he bid it for $385 which was still more than I was willing to spend and since we're in South Florida we don't need heaters but one day every couple of years so I just by-passed it.

Yes they are that much at the least. They are a major pain to do.
