1993 volvo 940 turbo wagon
Hi!
My wife was driven the 1993 volvo 940 turbo and a few blocks from home the car stop, as if it did not have electricity.
My son drove my 1995 volvo 940 and gave my wife car a jump, then he left my car with my wife and drove the 1993 turbo wagon home.
Today my wife drove the 1993 volvo turbo, i don't know if she is going to have a problem.
So this is the problem: The car stops, gets a jump, the car starts, drives home and the next day the car runs.
What can it be?
Low battery? Crankcase positioning sensor?
The car is use for short trips, 5 blocks one way, then 5 blocks for return.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thank you.
Hector.

5 blocks???? around here, that's like 1000-2000 feet, 300-600 meters. Walk or ride a bike. 5 blocks is not sufficient time to warm up the engine, drive out moisture, or recharge the battery.
however, you should do some basic diagnostics. check the state of the battery and charging system with a volt meter, etc. its not rocket science.

Replay to pierce: Yes, five blocks, maybe six at the most, my son drives the car at 5 o'clock in the morning going to work and sometimes he comes back after 12.00
the neighborhood is not very safe.
And yes, i will get the battery check tomorrow.
Are you sure that it is not the crankshaft positioning sensor?
Thank you.

i'm not sure of anything. you need to get a volt meter and do some testing. or take the car to a knowledgeable mechanic and pay him to test and fix.
driving 1/4-1/2 mile twice a day will destroy a car. your exhaust system will rust out, your oil will get contaminated with condensation, and the resultant corrosion will destroy the the engine block. you'd be better off with an electric golf cart for that sort of commute.
