Default 240, UK MOT & Brakes

Hi all,

My 240 is going for an MOT soon and there is a couple of things I am unsure about. It's fitted with headlamp wipers, only one works... Is this as testable item?

There is an issue with the bulb failure warning system, it seems to be on the brake lights but they are working fine. Is the bulb failure light a testable item?

One final thing, I fitted new pads and noticed that the pedal feels spongy. Tried bleeding the fronts but no real improvement. I'm thinking this will improve when they have bedded in?

Many Thanks,
Dan

new pads on old scored rotors, yeah, they'll be spongy til they wear down to match teh grooves on the rotors.

can't answer your MOT questions, not in the UK, and never had to deal with it.

I do not see why headlight wipers would fail your MOT test. most cars do not have them.
the bulb failure light might fail you though.
Again, not in the UK so not really sure.

Thanks for the replies.

I've had a look at the lights. Replaced the tail light bulbs with the same make and type and the warning light no longer comes on.

I've been looking around on the net and from what I've read they are only a testable item on xenon lights. Apparently all vehicles with xenon headlights must be fitted with a wipers or washer jets. Halogen doesn't require them and is not tested.

Yep the discs haven't been changed, they aren't scored but you can see where the pad isn't touching the disc at the moment. Brakes work fine, just spongy.

Thanks guys,
Dan
