240 wiper linkage fell apart!
Hi all, Today my 1990 240 wagon had a major wiper failure. Took the glove box and some ducting off and found that the cable pulley on the right hand wiper had fallen off its spline, plus the cables both came off the rocking pulley. Does the pulley just friction fit onto the spline? I don't see any retaining method. It fell off once; how do I keep it from doing that again? Also, how do I orient the pulley on the spline to have it rotate everything correctly? Are there pics that show all of this stuff? My manual just covers changing wiper motors. Thanks, Chris

I think of you pull the wipers off and the nuts undrneath the whole thing will come of without that much work, just pull it all out and have a look.
you might shim it with a beer can or something and use loctite..
you can put the wipers where you want on the splines. there is a park switch in by the motor. on mine the magnets came loos from the case. I take the armature apart and glue them back with epoxy after some cleaning if they do. it'll slow them down to a crawl speed. best solution is to get one not all worn out from a wreck. they seem to go for a long time usually. if they fail suddenly that can be really inconvenient. , when its out it's pretty self explanatory how it all works..
