Hi guys my first post. i just bought my freinds 89 740 turbo intercooler wagon. it needs a new transmision and i have a parts car. but i hate autos and was wondering what will it take to convert it to a 5 spd. im going to convert this wagon into a truck so getting my hands dirty isnt a big deal.

 

I just converted my 87 740 turbo intercooler wagon to an auto. The 5spd overdrive needs a rebuild. I can tell you that you'll need a flywheel, clutch assembly, tranny, driveshaft, shifter, clutch and brake pedals, and clutch master. If you're interested I still have all my old parts. The tranny bolts right up to the engine and so does the whole driveshaft - perfect fit. The shifter and pedals use the same mounts. It is more complicated going auto to manual than otherwise. I saw a Volvoclub UK post that had extensive detail on your project.
