Default 740 problem...

so my car would start yesterday.
i wake up this morning to go to school and i crank it.........no starting happening this morning. :/
i dont understand what could've gone wrong between yesterday and this morning...so i dont know what the problem is

the previous friday i ran out of gas...so my dad brought some and i drove it home. i drove the car sunday afternoon up into my yard to wash it...and then drove it back to its spot. could i have run out of gas so quickly? i thought maybe...
so today after school we put about $14 worth of gas into the car to see if that was the problem because this had happened before...
no starting.
in fact, when i turned the key, the car would crank and crank and crank until i let it go...and each time i turned the key back and then tried again the power would gradually lessen...so i thought...oh! battery maybe?

so my dad hooks his ford ranger up to the car running and has me go at it. the car had more power and sounded normal (or asclose to normal as it could be)while cranking, but still no starting...i thought maybe him pressing his gas would make a difference, but apparently that's a common misconception because he yelled at me and told me it wouldn't make a difference... :/
sooooo
here i am.
desperately on the verge of insanity and super upset that this is happening NOW.
i just got a bite on the car while it was running and was going to sell it in about 3 weeks to this guy i'm holding it for...
but i can't sell it without it running!!!!

gahhhhh

anybody have any ideas? anything i could check? do?

junk it?
gr.

had a similar problem. check your alternator belt and the alternator itself. when i had the same problem i opened up the hood and saw my alternator belt snapped in half. replaced it, good to go. hope that helps.

could be a fuel delivery issue...fuel pump relay or the fuel pump itself.

why don't you keep fuel in it? anyways...

also, check the RPM sensor. make sure the fuel pumps are functional as well.
