740 Trouble code problem?
After changing head gaskets, and everything associated with, including a new O2 sensor. The car runs great, only a bit low at idle. However, I am getting the check engine light.
If you'd read my "firing order" post from last the last couple of weeks, you can see the details of what was replaced. And done.
After checking codes @ point 2, I get 2-3-1. Can someone help? I have cleared it, but it came back after only 24 miles. I know its calling for o2 sensor adjustment. But this is a brand new Bosch sensor, and I am totally confused why it is coming on.
Thanks,
Kevin

RE: 740 Trouble code problem?
I believe, I am going to have to take the exhaust manifold off, and put another set of gaskets on with hi-temp gasket sealant. This is the only possible place I could think of a leak. When we put them on we had an initial gap, but turn them around properly, but it may not have seal right. I used insence to find smoke going to an open leak, but nothing.
I do have another set, but they are not the same quality.
The car drives fine, but the check engine lite, and slightly irregular idle are bugging the %$# out of me. I re-adjusted the idle at the TB today, up to 1K RPM.
I have to go out of town tommorow, but will try again Friday to troubleshoot.
BTW, I just remembered, there is a small tear in the Hose (dryer accordian-type) from the to the exhaust manifold. However, its been there for at least 2 years. I will see if I can seal it before buying a new one to verify if this is problem. I can probably lose a bet to this one. I will try this first.

RE: 740 Trouble code problem?
you might try the orings around the injectors. symptoms are a rough idle when first started cold gets better as the car warms up. kits for injectors are about $4.50 each injecor www.fpcgroton.com

RE: 740 Trouble code problem?
Sorry it took so long to respond, but been busy.
Anyway, I put new orings on when I replaced the gasket set. Today replaced the o-ring on the Fuel regulator (been hearing seepage while throttling up).
Now, when I checked my codes, socket 6 (1-4-3), socket 2 (2-3-1 & 2-3-2). I reset them, and will find out what else is going on. If the knock sensor codes come back, I guess I will have to get one.
However, its now driving me insane, due to the intial mess (2-3-2), is apparantly creating additional issues.
Since I recompleted the timing, the car only idles low on initial startup, and slight initial hesitiation. But once running, it has yet to stutter. I take that back after long idles it attempts some stuttering.
I have yet to take off the manifold gaskets again, but could the socket 2 codes also be detecting a bad Cat?
