so i just got a 1990 710 turbo recently. i bought an after market car deck to install in the car. went to best buy to install it. the guy pulled the radio out then realized he needed a certain part he didn't have at the moment. so he put the radio in. i get in the car, turn the radio on and the backlight for the digital display stopped working. also the backlight that lights up the digits for the presets also stopped working.

i go back to best buy and called the guy out on what he did. the idiot goes into my car and starts tapping on the radio like its magically going to start working again. so clearly these guys are blithering idiots but my question is what could he have done wrong? im installing the aftermarket deck soon but its really about the principle. these guys need to stop fronting like they know what there doing or get another job.

 

Its probably insecurity mode, it thinks it was stolen,

do you have the radio security code for it?
Look in your manual or get it from the dealers computer database.

 

its not the security code. radio works fine its just that theres no backlight anymore...

 

There might be an inline fuse in the wiring harness behind the radio, mine has 3.
Either that or a plug not quite right.
