Hi just a quick question...
Just started driving my 83 240 dl with a automatic trany...
At 100km per hour its just over 3000rpm is that normal..seems kinda high to me ...

 

these are 4 cyl cars, they need some revs.

does the 83 have an overdrive ? does it rev higher if you push the button to turn off the OD while cruising at your 100 km/h ? if it doesn't have an OD, then its a 3-speed automatic, and yeah, 3000rpm at 62MPH/100kmH sounds about typical.

 

Where would the button be located...there is nothing on the shifter....but if it is normal for it to rev that high thats cool ..just did not want blow anything up ...just did all the body and paint on it

on the later ones, the OD button is on the side of the shift ****.
