88 240 idle control valve compatability

hi all,
i was wondering if anyone knew if the 1990-1993 idle control valve (L-shaped one) would work with the 1988 model (T-shaped one). are the connections just on different parts of the valve?

I believe they are incompatible. The IAC changed for the LH2.4 system used in '89+ cars.
