Default '88 240DL wagon mystery leak

My new wagon has a damp spot on the rear right side passenger foot well. Water (?) appears to be entering in the center back where it the foot well slopes up towards the front edge of the seat. Hard to describe! Any ideas where ? It's not coming in around the door. Might this have something to do with the two rust spots at the front bottom edge of the rear quarterlight windows?

Thanks for any suggestions

John

Did the leak happen to correspond to the use of your air conditioner?

I don't know but the leak is in the rear footwell. The AC does not work anyway. Out of freon, I think.

It might be a windsheild leak and it rests in the Rear.

Interesting that you should mention that,

I went looking at an '85 244 DL last weekend, which was in relatively good shape for the 291k miles. The last time the owner drove it (two weeks or so prior), it stalled out, but when I was there, it stalled due to a low idle, but he adjusted the cable, and the car was fine after that. While I was there, I forgot to take pictures, so I went back the next day to photograph the vehicle, and when I was the underside of the car, I saw a very tiny stalactite formation that was dripping. But it had been nearly 24 hrs since the car had been driven. Any thoughts? (A/C also doesn't work in this car)

Wes

Thanks for the suggestions.

I have not seen any signs or traces of water coming from the front and settling in the low spot in the rear footwell....no water stains. Water appears to be coming from the back of the footwell. While under the car i did notice what appears to be a rubber gasket/plug covering a small hole. Any idea what this might be? Could it be the source of the leak? seems rather unlikely that there is a hole that goes all the way thru to the interior.(?)

I doubt that is it.

Does the spare tire have water in it?

No water by spare tire. but mechanic who fixed the cam seal just told me that the rear passenger door seal needs to be replaced. I had asked him to take a look at this perplexing problem so he sat inside the car whicle someone sprayed a garden hose at the car. He tells me he got sprayed...leaking at B pillar by window. So now I know! Anyone know where I can buy the door seal? Mechanic told me $158 from local Volvo dealer. OUCH!
