88 245 ground alternator problems?
Hi all...I had to use an oil filter wrench on my last oil change and the metal part of the tool touched some the alternator wires accidentally. I saw some sparks and afterward I noticed the odometer stopped working also that the drivers side of my new speakers I put in several months ago (also put in new kenwood head) was much quieter than the passengers side...would these be problems from the alternator sparking? I also put in a battery disconnect switch at the same time. what things should I look for to go about fixing it?

you may have randomly fried all sorts of things by that. is the alternator still outputing a decent 13.8V or so when the battery is fully charged and the engine is running?
but, if the speedo is working, and the odometer isn't, its almost certainly unrelated to this.
the stereo speakers, I dunno, swap the speaker wires behind the stereo to see if its the amp or the speaker, I suppose?

use the stereo's balance and fader to isolate the speakers. is the 'weak' one missing only the bass or the treble ? I've had a coax speaker lose the woofer side, and it turned out to be a broken wire between the terminals and the cone, which I was able to fix with some careful finessing of a fine point soldering iron
