Hello all, I have a 740 Turbo wagon, that has developed a rear axle leak. The axle cover appears to be rusted through. The car has been sitting for many years and now I need to drive it. I was wondering if anyone new the part number for the rear axle cover, and where one can be obtained cheaply. Wonderin if this happens often, and if the same rear axle cover was used in other years?

 

Those things are quite common and easy to get as they don't normally fail. Any junkyard should be able to get you one for a couple of bucks. There may be some variations but generally all 740 from 1984 to 1990 should be the same, even 240 and later years 940. Just call around...
