Talking 88 740GL horn selectively not work

My horn selectively not work. Is there a slip ring that grounds the steering wheel, allowing the horn to be grounded and thus honk? My VW has the same issue and cleaning the slip ring, the horn worked.

Thanks

No because it has 2 thumb contacts on the wheel to activate the horn. There is a spade terminal that is visible when you pull the wheel. Sometimes it corrodes but more often it is a loose or corroded ground wire near the horns.

Talking now to remove the steering wheel

I remember all the warnings about the airbag so DISCONNECT the battery negative first.

Where do I go from there? I note that there are two screws holding the crowling immediately behind the steering wheel. Some guidance would help here. Thanks

there are 2 torx screws holding the bag in on the lower side. u have to turn the wheel, may be 45 deg's to clear the housing. believe, the tool size is t20-has to be a long skinny one, socket won't work...

btw, u don't nec. have to take out the wheel, in airbag cars u'll see some of the horn wires once the bag is out. if you do have to take out the st. wheel, lock the clock spring or you'll break it and it runs like $300... careful!
