Sometimes, when I turn on the heater fan, I hear a loud screech. It lasts for a while, then goes away.

Anybody know why it is doing this?

This is a 91 Volvo 940 - 127,000 miles.

Sometimes, when I turn on the heater fan, I hear a loud screech. It lasts for a while, then goes away.
Anybody know why it is doing this?

Most likely the blower motor is going bad.
