'92 745 fuel pump woes
'92 745 GLA with 130k. I searched a little and am asking for a pass... The Brick is dead in the work parking lot. No fuel pump sound at key-on. Can hear the relay cycle. Cranks great and acted a little like it wanted to start. Fuse good. Prior two days: wouldn't start on 1st try but would on 2nd try. I thought a leaky injector was flooding it and it took the 2nd try to get it cleared out. Now it cranks with no hint. Is there a hatch opening for the pump, I didn't see one looking quickly at work? I'm taking a test light and tools with me tomorrow. Lots of tools at work. I need the parking lot diagnostic procedure. Thanks, C.
1992 745 GLA. Can you all help me confirm... I have the coil in a square framed housing. Does that mean a Regina system? And do I understand the Regina is one(1) fuel pump only in the tank? My car does not have an ID sticker on the driver side door that has option codes... Is there an ID on my 1992 that tells brakes , fuel system ect. ? Thanks, C.
I guess I'll just talk to myself on this one.... I got conflicting info in my search: to jump the Fuel Pump from the relay socket, you connect the nearest (toward the rear of the car) relay socket terminal on the left with the middle one on the right. That makes the pump wire hot. I have the Regina system and my pump does not run when jumped. To confirm, I checked voltage on the pink wire at the tank during the two second key-on period and got voltage at the tank for that short period but no pump. I assume my pump is dead. The Brick will be guarding the parking lot this weekend. Can anyone tell me what might be the most challenging part of this pump replacement come Monday? C.
