93 240 no spark no start
Hello all,
I have a 93 240 2.3 and she won't start. It died while driving very suddenly and that was that. I checked for fuel and it is being delivered so then I checked the coil. Spark was weak so I replaced it. It started twice, I drove about a mile and where I parked is where it remains. I am now getting no spark off the coil wire but the coil has power to it. I pulled the cap and rotor to check points but alas there are none. Is there a cam position sensor on this car, if so where the heck is it! My chilton talks and shows a lot about 940 models but neglects my poor 240. Please help me!

There is a crank position sensor that sits on top of the bell housing where the engine & transmission are mated. The wires on it tend to get frayed and corroded. If this sensor isn't working, you won't get any spark. Check this wire. Wiggle it and see if it starts. If it does, then it's time for a replacement.
Good luck.
Good luck.
As far as the stripe goes, I just put a crank sensor on my 91 940 and the was not any color on the wire (1 week ago). Also the Radio Interference Suppression Relay. It controls the power to the fuel injection. Mine went bad too. Not sure exactly where it is on the 240. Under the hood on the driver side I think.
Well, I pulled the crank sensor and the insulation has melted and I can see copper on one of the wires, so I've got a new one coming today. The one bolt that held it on to the car was one of the more challenging bolts I've had the pleasure to remove. They sure tucked that one in there.
Yes on the driver side wheel well but I put the new crank sensor in and BINGO!!! She starts right up and even idles at a more regular speed that before she broke down. Thanks for the help everyone!!!
