'93 240 Power Doors won't lock
Strangely enough my 1993 240 Wagon power doors refused to lock today with looking of the drivers side door with a key. Opening up all doors works fine, but closing the door with a key the other 3 doors knobs and rear door don't move up down and lock. Not a fuse, since opening works and checked the fuse. And doesn't seem like a relay problem since they open fine.. or maybe not?
Any thoughts, tips, experiences will be appreciated as I keep looking for the culprit. Thanks in advance, Alex... |
I had the same problem, spite mine being a 2 door. I took it all apart, cleaned everything up and put it back to gether and it worked. Might work for you...

Sounds like an actuator problem, the one in the driver's door... kind of a pain to change. My '92 940 needs that one changed, too. This one LOCKS all the locks when you try to open the door after sitting for a few minutes-bad gas station experience!

Fixed!
Thanks guys for your suggestions! Problem ended up being a broken wire (red) in the driver's door going to the locking relay. Wire broke at the door hinge point, where the volvo wires usually break.
Lessons learned: 1 - start troubleshooting at the source to destination. Checking locking/unlocking relays may have seemed like a easy idea but taking apart the dashboard/instrument panel is no easy task. 2 - make sure to remember where all the screws come from. Two (2) 1-inch allumimun machine screws (~ 1/4" diameter) are left over after the assembly. Anyone know where they may have come from? Driver-side door and instrument panel were dissassembled/assembled. Alex... |
