Default 93 940 TURBO power issues

I have noticed that now in the summer heat my wagon will periodically loose power on acceleration to hard acceleration. boost gauge doesn't really move when it happens but its a def drop in power.

any ideas?

fuel starvation? mine (92 740T wagon) did this when the in-tank fuel pump was failing, the main pump was having to work too hard, and under heavy foot midrange RPMs 2nd or 3rd, the power would wibble out, especially if the gas tank was below about 1/2 tank. new in-tank pump and the main pump stopped whining, and the power was good all the way to the redline.

I also experienced some high throttle power losses when the edge of the rubber air tube between the MAF and the turbo intake was getting sucked in under high vacuum, but that caused the boost gauge to flap wildly. After trying to reseat the clamp band a few times just to have it recur, I got a new tube as the old one had some oil damage that caused the rubber to be too soft such that it would 'ooze' out of the clamp on the back side where you couldn't see it.

another cause of power loss can be funky spark plug wires or other ignition related issues. I highly recommend using Bougicord spark plug wire sets, available from FCP or IPD, they are much better quality than most any other... The Bosch cord sets sold at retail stores are real junk nowdays.

I did notice the negative lead on the coil looked burnt like it had arked on something. It does not feel like it is miss firing but i dont know how old the plugs and wires are to be honest. I am also having this weird issue with this black sediment looking stuff in my expansion tank. Is it just old hoses breaking down? its not sludgy but like black particles.

if your hoses are old, you should replace all of them before they blow and leave you stranded, or that debris clogs up the inside of the engine.

but, I doubt that would explain this power loss.

silly question, do you use premium gas? the turbos need it, or they'll retard the ignition significantly during heavy throttle to keep from pinging.
