Default 940 GLE, Turbo wagon, model 1998, silincer pipe louder?

For the last two days, i can feel that the engine sound has changed from the turbo side, is it the slincer join with the turbo unit or the turbo unit joined with the engine. How could we check from where the leakeage is, as the engine sound from the exaust is a bit louder now.
Should i do the following:
1) Tightened up the bolts attached with the turbo with the exaust pipe % engine with Turbo unit.

2) change the gaskit of the above mentioned point.

Reapating again as how can i determine if there is any leakage. (By the foam as we check if there is any leakeage in the AC linea?)

Any help will be appreaciated, as the engine sound is a bit louder while driving.

Start it up cold and feel around the connections at the engine and the turbo if it is leaking then you should be able to feel it.

Most of the time it leaks from the engine to the manifold. You might also be able to see black marks from where it has been leaking.

Dear Alan

Thanks for your feedback. I had checked the connection with the turbo with the engine. Thanks God there are no black marks, telling that there is no leakeage from that side. You wont beleive that while i was inpecting the connection of Turbo with the silincer pipe, i could screw or unscrew those two bolts with my fingers. Meaning they were so lose. The moment i tightened them again i can get the feel of a very quite engine. Now i can only hear the slight tickle of the tappets in the engine, otherwise it was just like a leaky exaust pipe.
Thanking you once again for your guideline

Hi Tech

I had a leak due to loose nuts at the manifold-to-downpipe joint also. Is this a common problem?

If so should the nuts be replaced? What's the best thing to use...copper nuts or Stover (metal self-locking type) nuts?

You can use the Stover nuts and yes I would replace them.If it was turbo I would say to use the brass nuts.
