940 seat problem
I just bought a '93 940 and the driver seat is stuck to the rear position. Do you have any ideas were to start or what is wrong? I have put the seat in the all the way up postition and can look under it. As I push the forward button I can see the cable attatched to the motor move and I hear the motor running. All other movements work but nothing forward or backward. Any help is great, I need it fixed soon as I have to go on orders for the military and need it for my wife to drive.
Thanks Greg

RE: 940 seat problem
My parents 1995 had a similar problem - the seat wouldn't fold up. The fix is manageable, but a little hard to describe. Basically, the rigid cable that actually spins and drives the motor is inside a plastic sheath - like on a bicycle's brake cable. That sheath is fixed held in place and the end of the cable that actually does the work sticks into a fitting. The plastic sheathing seemed to have lengthened over time, though, so that with it locked in place, it held the square drive cab;e to far out from the fitting is was supposed to go into. Once we diagnosed the trouble, the permanent fix was to cut about 1/8 - 1/4 of a inch off of the sheathing cable - that then left enough drive cable sticking out that it could actually engage the fitting that drives the seat gear.
Subsequently, we found discussion on the internet that lead us to believe that the problem was not isolated to our seat alone -0 perhaps it is related to the trouble you are having getting the seat to run forwards and back as well?
Good luck,
Adam
