98 Turbo wagon 940 GLE, aotomatic
Hi Guys
I am new to the forum. Have recently purchased the subject car with 210,000 Km on it. It is in perfect condation. The only thing is that i feel some vibrations in the car, specially in the first and second gears. Maybe there is some problem with the engine mountings. My friends who have Volvos are saying that models from 1994 to 1998 do have the vibration problem. The question is that is it true? If not that how can i check the mountings.
Secobly i do feel a lot of noise from the turbo side while moving the car on 130 Km on the main roads. Is there some silincer join problem near the turbo or one of the clips are missing from the air filter compartment, which might be giving the noise.
I have driven cheverlet Blazer 4*4, and more or less all makes and models of Japanese cars, including BMW 3 series and 5 Series, but frankly speaking the road grip which i have seen in Volvo 940 have never been observed in my previous cars. Till now it is going very fine and have driven almost 2000 KM.
Best regards

The vibrations could be a problem with the transmission mount, trans tail shaft bushing, rubber drive shaft support and/or support bearing, or u-joints. To properly check the car has to be in the air, either on a lift or firmly supported on jack stands before a human gets under it. Check for deterioration of the rubber parts, sagging transmission, tail shaft leak, excessive sideways movement of the driveshaft, incorrect angle of driveshaft ,play in u-joints etc.
Can't help on the turbo.
