Well I've been gone from the Volvo forums for about 5 years but I just couldnt stay away. Ever since I sold my 86 240 to a friend (well over 200,000 and still drives it) I've been dreaming of owning another brick. So there I was, looking around on Craigslist yesterday and there it was, a 89 240dl wagon for 800.00! I immediately called and said I be over to look at it. It looked really good for 800 so I took it for a drive, everything worked minus the A/C (of course). Transmission was a little sticky, hadn't been ran in a month, but once it warmed up it was fine. No leaks, well one drip, thats no leaks in my book. So I bought it! 750.00 Anyway back to the subject. Does anyone know what year they started with the "newer 240" I guess there was a differents in mains and rod journals. Wouldnt the later 240 be a better motor? Thanks, and great to be back!
